Robo Rides

ROBO RALLY RACE

INTRODUCTION: Build a robot whose task is to complete the shown track in the shortest possible team whose robot completes the track in the minimum time is the winner.

ROBOT SPECIFICATIONS:

The Robot can have a maximum dimension of

Length : 25 cm.

Breadth : 25 cm.

Height : no limit.

Weight : 4KG ( excluding the controls/wires )i.e. the robot must fit into a square box of side 25 cm.

Robot Classes :
Remote Controlled or Manual ( Wired Control ).

Power Specifications : The robot must be self powered, i.e., power supply must be onboard. AC power supply will not be provided, except for charging your batteries (in the breaks only). The potential difference across any two points must not exceed 18 V.

THE EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN 3 ROUNDS :

ROUND 1 -- Qualifying Round The robots have to reach flag1 in the minimum possible time. one chance will be given to each team .Teams whose robot's running time is found lesser than the cut off time (to be decided by the Organizers at the event) will advance to the next round.

ROUND 2 -- League Round The robots have to reach flag2 in the minimum possible time. one chance will be given to each team . Only Top 8 teams will move to the next round.

ROUND 3-- Final Round The robots have to complete the whole track in the minimum possible time. Robots will run in pairs of two and the loosing robot will be knocked out of the competition. Finally the ultimate winner will be decided after a series of 4+2+1 matches.

IMPORTANT POINTS:

1. No practice on the arena will be allowed.

2. Robot specifications will be checked before the start of the event, Teams whose robots do not satisfy the constraints will be disqualified.
3. Borders will be placed on either sides of the track ,each touch will lead to penalty. All the penalties will be added to the total time taken by the robot.
4. In case of the participant touching his/her robot, the participant has to start that particular zone again.
5. If the robot goes out of the track, extra penalty will be levied.
6. Organizers reserve the right to change the arena specifications and the rules of the event if required.
7. Participants must abide by the organizers instructions. Any argument with the organizers may lead to disqualification of that team.
8. Registration fee per head is rs.50/- the amount has to be paid on the day of the event.

SUMO WRESTLING

PROBLEM STATEMENT: Build a robot whose task is to push the opposing robot out of the circular ring or flip it over. Different robots compete one-on-one against each other in a knock-out tournament.

ROBOT SPECIFICATIONS:

Size : At the start of a match the robot must fit into a square box of side 30 cm, with no height limitation. The design to stretch a robot's body or its parts shall be allowed after a match has started, but must remain a single centralized robot.

Weight : The robot must weigh 5 KG (excluding the controls/wires) or less.

Robot Classes : Remote Controlled or Manual ( Wired Control ).

ROUND 1 -- Qualifying Round The robot has to drive out light weight objects (maximum weight = 250g) placed randomly on the arena, out of the ring in minimum possible time. Each team will be given two chances. The better of the two timings will be considered. The robot has to start from one of the starting lines. The teams whose timings are found to be lesser than the cut-off time (to be decided by the organizers on the event) advances to the next round.

ROUND 2 -- League Round This happens to be a one-on-one round. Both robots will start from the startling lines facing each other. The duration of this round shall be 2 minutes. In case of a tie, i.e., at the end of 2 minutes if none of the teams succeed in pushing their opponent out of the arena or flipping it over, a tie-break round follows.

The procedure of the tie breaker round is as follows

The Robots will be asked to push a 500 g block (placed on the starting line) out of the arena in minimum possible time. The robot whose timings are the minimum wins the match. If none of the robots is able to push the block out, the final distance of the block from the centre is measured. Robot which pushes the block to a greater distance is the winner. Only top 8 teams move to the next round after this series of matches.

ROUND 3-- Final Round This also will be a one-on-one round. Both robots will start from the starting lines facing each other. The duration of this round shall be 3 minutes. Finally the ultimate winner is decided after a series of 4+2+1 matches. In case of a tie, i.e., at the end of 3 minutes if none of the teams succeed in pushing their opponent out of the arena or flipping it over, a tiebreak round follows.

The procedure of the tie breaker round is as follows:

The Robots will be asked to push a 1 Kg block (placed on the starting line) out of the arena in minimum possible time. The robot whose timings are the minimum wins the match. If none of the robots is able to push the block out, the final distance of the block from the centre is measured. Robot which pushes the block to a greater distance is the winner.

IMPORTANT POINTS:

1. No practice on the arena will be allowed.

2. Robot specifications will be checked before the start of the event, Teams whose robots do not satisfy the constraints will be disqualified.
3. Registration fee per head is rs.50/- the amount has to be paid on the day of the event.

The Robot wins the match in the following cases:

1. The Robot legally forces the body of the opponent’s Robot out of the black ring.

2. The opponent’s Robot is off the black ring by itself.
3. The Robot flips the opponent’s robot on its back or side, and thus causing it to be stationary for more than certain time span (to be decided by organizers ).

4 . Failure to meet any of the above criterions will lead to disqualification.

Time limit: The maximum time allowed to complete the task will be 5 minutes

RULES AND REGULATIONS :

1 . If the robot deviates from the path (i.e. no part of the robot is above the line, wherever it is) then the team has to take a restart. The task will be considered as incomplete in this particular trial.
2 . A maximum of 3 trials will be allowed.
3 . The best result of the 3 trials will be considered. The robot closest to the finish will be declared the winner.
